| boy, has xanga become complicated!!! It took me a while to figure out how to add a new post. I think it's been over a year since I've been on this thing. Out of no where, I suddenly had the urge to write an entry. Guess it's long overdue since my last one was back in November of 2006. So much has happened since then. I'll probably slowly get into all that eventually. I'm back!

I love YouTube. Know why? Cuz I can have the most random song stuck in my head, go home, then search it on YouTube and it will play it for me. Ex: New Adventures of Pippi Longstockings Song (told you it was random) see below. The movie came out in 1988 and I loved the song. Listening & singing to it inspired me to want to buy the movie. So after another time of singing on the top of my lungs to my boyfriend on the phone, I convinced him to purchase it for me on ebay (cuz I don't have an acct, plus I still have some money in his paypal acct). EXCELLENT!
Since i don't know how to put the video directly in the post, you guys will have to click on the link (btw, in case you'd like to sing along as well, the lyrics are in the info section)

Another reason why I love YouTube is that I can get stuck on the darn thing for hours looking up anything from music videos, UFO sightings, or watch hilarious clips like Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck's song, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIQrBouWRiE
very cool!

| BLACK FRIDAY Traditionally Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. People wake up at the butt crack of dawn or stand in line for hours on end in the miserable cold just to be the first to get the best deals. INSANE! I was watching the news this morning while getting ready for work...YES I said WORK...I swear we're the only corporate office that is required to work because even our neighboring retail office, The GAP, is closed! Sorry, I digressed. Anyways...on the morning news, they reported that the group that was standing in front of the line at Best Buy have been there since Thursday at 2am!! That's nuts! They all ate their thanksgiving meals in line. The crazy things people do to save money. Moving along…I am probably 1 of 3 people who have to work today…From as far back as I remember I’ve never had school/work on the day after thanksgiving. That all changed today. Bart was absolutely deserted. What normally is a brawl between people finding a seat on the crowded subway, turned out to only being 10 people at my station MAX. Walking down the street was even a little eerie. The few people that were around were all jay walking since there were barely any cars in site. After walking the 4 blocks to my office, I found that my building was locked! Ridiculous! We had to get a security guard to let us go up the elevator. There’s gotta be something wrong with that picture. On top of that, our internet goes down for at least 5 hours!! We were left with no choice but to do manual labor…and file…bummer. Moral of the story, next year, I’m taking Black Friday off. | | |
| NEW JOB: THE SHARPER IMAGE

As of September 2006, I've been working at The Sharper Image
Corporate Office in the Merchandising Electronics Department located at the
Embarcadero in San Francisco. It's been pretty tough learning all the ins
and outs of a new job. At least coming
into the position, I already had a good knowledge of what the company does…(the
retail chain can be found in about 200 malls in the US). That's all I really thought it was before I
began working here but to see the backend of things…man, we do a lot. We have a design team who creates products
from scratch, an award winning monthly catalog put together by Creative and
Merchandising, an easy-to-navigate online website compliments of the Internet
team, an ebay store and a few outlet stores you can walk into or find online. Being in the Merchandising department, I
actually get to have a hands-on experience to meet with vendors and decide what
products we want to sell. I get to see
the process of the time we're testing out the product up to the time it's put
on the the shelves. It's pretty cool and
I'm happy to say that I'm definitely enjoying it.
Here's the view from my office:
Along with the new job, comes the everyday commute into the
city. Waking up at 6am is taking a toll on me. Naturally, I'm already a narcoleptic but make
me wake up 4 hours before I previously did, is asking for trouble. The 3 hour roundtrip commute is KILLER. Most of the time I ride BART into San
Francisco and after work, I have an AWESOME bf who drives me home, most of the
time.
Speaking of BART, I actually love the convenience of
it. In my previous job working at the
Elementary School, I would drive only 15 min till I reached my destination. Now, I get to reap the benefits of riding
public transportation. Granted, it's a
little time consuming but it saves the hassle of paying an ABSURD amount for
daily parking, not as much wear on my, plus I don't have to fight Bay Bridge
traffic everyday. Not only is it
convenient, it also provides entertainment.
At least once a week, there is a jazz player at the Embarcadero
stop. The other day there was a group
playing classical. What a great way to
start the day. Not to mention, there's a
lot of crazies who ride the train…free amusement right there. OoOoh…there's also the cool free promotional
items people hand out. I've gotten a
free jamba juice card, energy bars, magazines, drinks, etc…not too shabby.
Another reason why I'm super tired is due to the second job
I work when I get back home. I started
this project before I got hired on at The Sharper Image, my supervisor really liked
the work that I've been doing for her so she was extremely flexible to
accommodate with my schedule. It's
pretty awesome that I get to chose when and where I want to work. The only downside is that it's extremely time
consuming. I don't really have much time
to do much else. Once this project is completed…I'm
going to pick up things that I used to do regularly like working out, hanging
out with friends, spending time with family, CLEAN my room, watch TV, or even take
up Chinese again. Luckily, I have Mr.
Wonderful…who's extremely supportive, tremendously caring, and always brightens
my day with his "attempted" surprises. I say "attempted" because he always ends up spoiling them
Other things I have experienced within the past few months
